The 528 Deck Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Conner Strategic Systems LLC ("we", "us"), which makes The 528 Deck, a flashcard app for medical school entrance exam preparation on Android. You accept them in the app when you first sign in. Our Privacy Policy at the528deck.com/privacy/ explains what data we keep and why. The app is on Google Play as package com.the528deck.app. By continuing you agree to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy and confirm you are 13 or older.
1. Who may use The 528 Deck
The 528 Deck is for people 13 and older. The app does not ask your age. When you accept these Terms in the app, you confirm you are 13 or older.
You can sign in with Google, with Facebook, with an email and password, or with a sign-in link sent to your email. Keep your sign-in to yourself.
2. Free access
Without a plan, you can study 669 free flashcards, about 10% of each of the 33 categories, with at least one in every deck, of 6,533.
Your first 24 hours start when you accept these Terms and tap Start in the app. During those 24 hours the free flashcards show no ads, and you can choose the early monthly price described in section 3. After the 24 hours end, your 669 free flashcards stay free, with ads.
Every other flashcard, and category downloads, come with full access.
3. Plans and prices
Plans are sold and billed by Google Play. A plan gives full access: all 33 categories, score tracking, and peer comparison as student groups fill up. Prices are in US dollars.

- Canceling. Cancel any time in your Google Play subscriptions. Access lasts to the end of the period you paid for. Canceling doesn't refund the current period. To stop an Annual plan's next charge, cancel before its renewal date.
- Renewal notices. If you have an Annual plan, we email you about 30 days before each renewal, with the date, the price and how to cancel. If you have a monthly plan, we email you a reminder once a year.
- Downloads. You can download each category twice in any 30 days, on any network. Picking up an interrupted download does not count, and neither do updates we send. Deleting the app or clearing its storage and downloading again does count, so use Wi-Fi after you buy and keep the app installed until after your exam. If the limit stops you for a good reason, such as a lost phone, write to support@the528deck.com.
4. Ads
Without a plan, after your first 24 hours, the free flashcards show ads from Google AdMob: banners, which can sit over the answer side of a flashcard, and, at natural breaks and at least 5 minutes apart, full-screen ads that may include video. The ads are not personalized and are limited to content suitable for teens.
No ad shows on the question side of a flashcard. On answer and information pages, a banner can sit over the foot of the flashcard. At the end of a deck, a larger ad can show in place of the banner. No ads with a plan.
5. The flashcards and what they are for
The 528 Deck is a study aid. We work to keep every flashcard correct; if you find a mistake, write to support@the528deck.com. Schools are self-reported and unverified. Any score the app shows comes with this line: An estimate from your self-checks, not an official score. Nothing in the app predicts your exam result or admission.

6. Your license, and what you may not do
The flashcards' text and design and the app belong to us. Figures from Wikimedia Commons belong to their authors and are used under the licences shown on each flashcard and listed at /credits/.
We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app and the flashcards your access opens, for your own study. You may not copy, share or sell the flashcards or the app, collect them by automated means, or get around the app's timers or locks.
Nothing in these Terms limits what a figure's own licence lets you do with that figure.
7. What you send us
If you type the name of a school, or write to support@the528deck.com, we use what you send to run the app and to answer you, as our Privacy Policy describes. Send only what you have the right to share.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time: in the app, open You, then Delete account; or go to the528deck.com/delete-account/. If you have a monthly or Annual plan, cancel it in your Google Play subscriptions before you delete your account. Deleting your account turns off renewal of your Google Play subscription. There is no refund for the current period.
Deleting your account ends your Lifetime plan and it cannot be restored. Write to support before deleting if you want to ask about it.
What deleting removes, and the few records we keep, are listed at /delete-account/ and in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
The 528 Deck is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that the app or the flashcards are free of errors, always available, or suited to your purpose, and we are not responsible for your exam result or admission. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be given up.
10. Disputes and governing law
If you have a problem with The 528 Deck, please write to support@the528deck.com first so we can try to fix it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Conner Strategic Systems LLC is organized.
11. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we publish the new version on this page with a new version number, and we keep each earlier version word for word at its own address, linked from this page.
